Wm. H. Clayton, Pastor of the <br />Community Foursquare Church. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Balser, Butterworth, Reibold, Phillips, Camphouse <br />None <br /> <br />At the request of Mayor Camphouse, Councilman Reibold presented to <br />Mr. R. E. Davison, retiring member of the Planning Commission (June 1, <br />1960) a scroll indicating his service to the community, adding that on <br />behalf of the Council he wished to express their appreciation and <br />thanks for a job well done. <br /> <br />After expressing his thanks, Mr. Davison in turn presented to Councilman <br />Reibold a plaque expressing the appreciation of the Council and Staff <br />for his dedication to civic duty during his term as Mayor of Arcadia. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Balser, seconded by Councilman Phillips and carried <br />unanimously that the minutes of the Regular ~~eting of May 17, 1960, <br />as submitted in writing, be approved. <br /> <br />Mayor Camphouse announced that bids would be opened relative to the <br />improvement of Woodruff Way by way of sewers; that under the 1911 Act, <br />bids received for street improvements must be opened pubJicly at a <br />regular Council meeting, read and recorded at said meeting; that they <br />will then be given to the Director of Public Works for computation and <br />returned later in the meeting with his findings. <br /> <br />The City Clerk thereupon opened and read the following bid proposals: <br /> <br />Cino, Inc. $3,372.20 <br />L. D.& M. Constr. Co. 3,912.20 <br />One Call Sanitation Co.4,576.20 <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Phillips, seconded by Councilman Reibold and <br />carried unanimously that the bids be referred to the Director of Public <br />Works for compilation, to return later in the evening with his recom- <br />mendation. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Resolution No. 3250, declaring Council's intention to vacate <br />and abandon a portion of Fifth Avenue and fixing a time and place for <br />the hearing of objections thereto, Mayor Camphouse declared the hearing <br />open. <br /> <br />The Director of Public Works displayed a map showing the boundary lines, <br />'^~ location and extent of the property in question and advised that the City <br />~ &~ has no need for said property; that it is unnecessary for present or <br />') prospective street purposes and that the public welfare, convenience, <br />aNDEXEDnecessity and safety require and will be better served by the vacation <br />thereof as a public street in Arcadia. <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />6-8-60 <br />
