ARCADIA CITY COUNCIL <br /> REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br /> TUESDAY, AUGUST 6, 2019 <br /> 1. CALL TO ORDER— Mayor Verlato called the regular meeting to order at 7:08 p.m. <br /> 2. INVOCATION — Reverend Jolene Cadenbach, Arcadia Congregational Church <br /> 3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE — Girl Scout Troop #2631 <br /> 4. ROLL CALL OF CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> PRESENT: Amundson, Beck, Tay, Chandler, and Verlato <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> 5. REPORT FROM CITY ATTORNEY REGARDING CLOSED/STUDY SESSION ITEMS <br /> City Attorney Deitsch announced that prior to the regular meeting, the City Council met in a <br /> Special Meeting to conduct a Study Session regarding the consideration of a draft Friendship <br /> Cities Program Policy, and possibly establishing a Friendship City Relationship with Dongfang <br /> City, Hainan Providence, China, and reported that, on motion by Mayor Pro Tem Chandler and a <br /> second by Council Member Beck, the City Council voted 3-2 (Mayor Verlato and Council Member <br /> Tay voting no) to table the matter. <br /> City Attorney Deitsch further announced that the City Council also conducted a Closed Session <br /> to consider Item (a) on the posted agenda, and that no reportable action was taken; he indicated <br /> that the City Council did not complete discussion of Item (b) and that, after the regular meeting, <br /> the City Council will recess back into Closed Session. <br /> 6. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FROM CITY MANAGER REGARDING AGENDA <br /> ITEMS <br /> City Manager Lazzaretto indicated that regarding City Manager Item 11.a, the wrong Assembly <br /> Bill was included as an attachment to the staff report, and that the correct Assembly Bill 626 was <br /> distributed to the City Council prior to the meeting; he further indicated that the City Council had <br /> previously called a public hearing for this meeting regarding 1231 San Carlos Road, and that prior <br /> to the posting of the agenda, the applicant requested that the City Council table this item until <br /> September. <br /> 7. MOTION TO READ ALL ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS BY TITLE ONLY AND <br /> WAIVE THE READING IN FULL <br /> A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Chandler and seconded by Council Member Amundson <br /> to read all ordinances and resolutions by title only and waive the reading in full. <br /> 8. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> Patricia Araiza, an Arcadia resident, appeared and expressed her concerns regarding the removal <br /> of mature trees and the basketball courts at Eisenhower Park; she also expressed the need for a <br /> safety crosswalk; she indicated that she did not receive notice of the new design of the park; and <br /> stated that she is opposed to the new design. <br /> 1 08-06-2019 <br />
