<br />Accept Longden Forebay Roof Replacement Project <br />May 16, 2017 <br />Page 2 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />DATE: May 16, 2017 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Tom Tait, Public Works Services Director <br /> By: Eddie Chan, P.E., Principal Civil Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: ACCEPT ALL WORK PERFORMED BY VINCOR CONSTRUCTION, INC. <br />FOR THE LONGDEN FOREBAY ROOF REPLACEMENT PROJECT AS <br />COMPLETE <br />Recommendation: Approve <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br /> <br />On December 6, 2016, the City Council approved a contract with Vincor Construction, <br />Inc. in the amount of $37,578.64 for the Longden Forebay Roof Replacement Project. <br />The terms and conditions of this project have been complied with and the work has <br />been performed to the satisfaction of the Project Manager for a total project cost of <br />$37,578.64. <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Council accept all work performed by Vincor <br />Construction, Inc. for the Longden Forebay Roof Replacement Project as complete, and <br />authorize the final payment to be made in accordance with the contract documents, <br />subject to the retention of $1,878.93. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Longden water facility includes a 60-foot diameter concrete reservoir with a wood <br />roof. The existing wooden roof cover was installed in 1960, and over the years has <br />been patched several times. A recent inspection of the facility’s roof identified increased <br />areas of deterioration. As a result, a project to replace the roof was included and <br />adopted in the Fiscal Year 2016-17 Capital Improvement Program. <br /> <br />On December 6, 2016, the City Council approved a contract with Vincor Construction, <br />Inc. in the amount of $37,578.64 for the Longden Forebay Roof Replacement Project. <br />The work performed included the removal of the existing built-up roofing material, spot <br />repair of the deteriorated roof structure, and installation of a new wood roof with 4-ply <br />sheet felt material and gravel built-up roofing system. <br /> <br />
