<br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />SISTER CITY <br />VISITORS <br /> <br />BOND ISSUE <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />NAOMI AVENUE <br />ZONING <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />19:7978 <br /> <br />M I NUT E S <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA <br /> <br />ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />DECEMBER 13, 1971 <br /> <br />The City Council met in an adjourned regular session with the Sister <br />City Commission on December 13, 1971 at 7:30 p.m., in the <br />Conference Room of the Arcadia City Hall. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Arth, Butterworth Considine, Hage, Helms <br />None <br /> <br />PRESENT: Sister City Commissioners Brodhead, Hackstedde, Libby, <br />Paradis, Shepherd, Gudus <br />ABSENT: Commissioner Pit chess <br /> <br />Discussion held on the forthcoming visit of Mayor and Mrs. Dimitrios <br />Soundris from Tripolis, Greece, and tentative arrangements were made, <br />however some of the activities were definite. A copy of'the revised <br />itinerary to be mailed to Council and the members of the Sister <br />City Commission (copy on file in the office of the City Clerk). <br />Resolutions and telegrams of welcome will be presented to Mayor <br />Soundris during his stay and he will be invited to sit with Council <br />at its regular meeting of January 4, 1972, and State and County <br />resolutions will be presented at this time. Personal gifts were <br />decided upon. These gifts to be funded from the Council Contingency <br />Fund. <br /> <br />Councilman Considine took his leave of the meeting at 8:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Funds from the Sister City Commission budget will be utilized for the <br />invitational luncheon at the Arboretum on December 28 and for the <br />Reception at the Chamber of Commerce office and private dinner to <br />follow on January 3. <br /> <br />Six copies of the book "My Country - USA" will be purchased by <br />Dorothy Richardson and mailed to the Library in Tripolis, Greece for <br />use by the school children there. <br /> <br />A "Welcome Mayor of Tripolis" banner will be displayed on Baldwin <br />Avenue, south of Huntington Drive. The Greek flag will also be <br />displayed at this location. Commissioner Paradis will make these <br />arrangement s. <br /> <br />~- <br /> <br />At 9:05 p.m. the Sister City Commission was excused. <br /> <br />Ways and means of financing a bond issue to be placed before the <br />electorate was explored. Bond Counsel, O'Melveny & Myers, are to be <br />contacted in this regard. The architect, Marion Varner, will be <br />requested to furnish specific figures on the construction and staff <br />will formulate figures on operating costs of the two facilities - <br />expanded police building and a community recreation center. <br /> <br />Staff was directed to place the matter of Naomi Avenue land use on <br />the agenda for the regular meeting of December 21 and removed from <br />the agenda for the adjourned regular meeting of December 16.
