Councilwoman <br />Lauber abstained as she was absent at that time. <br /> <br />On MOTION by Councilman Scott,.,seconded by Councilwoman Lauber and <br />carried the minutes of the regular meeting of August 5 were approved. <br />Councilman Saelid abstained from voting as he was absent at that time. <br /> <br />On behalf of Council Mayor Gilb presented to John A. Grivich a <br />Resolution of Appreciation. Mr. Grivich is retiring as Manager of the <br />Water Department. On MOTION by Councilman Scott, seconded by Councilwoman <br />Lauber and carried the following resolution was ADOPTED. <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, we the members of th.e City Counci 1 of th.e City <br />of Arcadia regretfully learn that John A. Grivich is taking a <br />disability retirement after twenty-six years of serving the <br />City of Arcadia; and <br />WHEREAS, during this service and his sixteen years as Water <br />Manager the Arcadia Water Department has been brought to a <br />standard of service almost unparalleled in Southern California; and <br />WHEREAS, during this period Arcadia water service has changed <br />from one in which the water supply was so insufficient that <br />rationing was required and the City was virtually out of water <br />to one of the fifteen water systems found by the State Department <br />of Health to be outstanding in the State; and <br />WHEREAS, this has been accomplished under the leadership <br />of John Grivich without the use of bonded indebtedness and with <br />one of the lo~est water rate systems in the area; and <br />WHEREAS, all of us have enjoyed and appreciated working <br />with John during this service and have never ceased to be <br />amazed at the wealth of information he has concerning water <br />service; and <br />WHEREAS, we can only reconcile ourselves to John's departure <br />by accepting the fact that this disability retirement is best for <br />his health and future well-being: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br />City of Arcadia that it unanimously commends John Grivich for his <br />excellent service, wishes him the best of health and happiness in <br />the future, and expresses the appreciation of the entire community <br />for outstanding service rendered.1I <br /> <br />8-19-75 <br /> <br />- 1 - <br />
