Dr. James McCormick, Church of Good Shepherd <br /> <br />Mayor Alton E. Scott <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Council Members Gilb, Helms, Lauber, Saelid, Scott <br />None <br /> <br />On MOTION by Councilman Helms, seconded by Councilman Saelid and <br />carried unanimously the minutes of the regular meeting of April 1, 1975 <br />were APPROVED. Councilman Gilb abstained from voting as he was absent <br />from said meeting. <br /> <br />COUNCIL REORGANIZATION <br /> <br />Councilman Saelid placed in nomination the name of Councilman Charles <br />E. Gilb to act as Mayor for the ensuing year. Councilman Helms seconded <br />the nomination and moved t'h a t the nominations be CLOSED. Motion <br />carried unanimously. Mayor Gilb introduced his family, business <br />associates and friends who were in attendance to wish him well. He <br />expressed appreciation for the honor of representing the City; that he <br />will perform his responsibilities to the very best of his ability. <br /> <br />Councilman Helms placed in nomination the name of Councilwoman Lauber <br />as Mayor Pro Tempore. Councilman Scott seconded the nomination and <br />moved that the nominations be CLOSED. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />On behalf of Council Mayor Gilb presented former Mayor Scott with a <br />plaque honoring him for his efforts and accomplishments during his <br />tenure as the presiding officer of Council. Mayor Scott responded by <br />stating in part that he was proud to have served the City in the <br />capacity of Mayor and thanked his colleagues on the Council, the City <br />Clerk, City staff and the citizens at large for their cooperation, <br />assistance and interest. <br /> <br />William Beckwith, on behalf of the local Chamber of Commerce, presented <br />former Mayor Scott with a gift. Lyle Cunningham, on behalf of the <br />Rotary Club expressed appreciation to Mr. Scott and extended best <br />wishes to incoming Mayor Gilb. Roy Long, President of Arcadians for <br />Arcadia, also thanked Mr. Scott and wished Mr. Gilb well. Robert Strub <br />j o'in ed' with the Rotary Club in expressing appreciation to Mr. Scott <br />and congratulated Mr. Gilb. <br /> <br />RECESS <br /> <br />Appeal filed by Mr. and Mrs. Irving Saphin from the decision of the <br />Planning Commission for denial of their appeal for permission to use <br />composition roofing material on their residence at 848 Coronado Drive. <br />It was explained that the Santa Anita Village Association Architectural <br />Review Board had originally denied the request which decision was then <br />appealed to the City Modification Committee and then to the Planning <br />Commission. Both agencies denied the request and the applicants have <br />now appealed to Council. <br /> <br />4-15-75 <br /> <br />- 1 - <br />
