Hage <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Arth, Butterworth, Helms, Scott, Rage <br />None <br /> <br />On MOTION by Councilman Helms, seconded by Councilman Arth and carried <br />unanimously the minutes of the regular meeting of July 5 were APPROVED, <br /> <br />May~ Hage presented to Robert J, Considine a plaque from Los Angeles <br />County First District Supervisor, Pete Schabarum, expressing appreci- <br />ation for his many efforts and accomplishments during his tenure as <br />Mayor and Councilman of the City of Arcadia, <br /> <br />Recommend3tion concerning fee schedules for conditional use permits was <br />continued from June 20, 1972 meeting to allow various groups to study <br />and confer with the Planning Director, Planning Commission Resolution <br />No, 786 stipulated fees starting with $100 for property 15,000 sq, ft" <br />and under to $750 for property 135,000 sq, ft, and over, Letters from <br />the Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Realtors were acknowledged, <br /> <br />fJ~ ~ {J f/JaCk Lamb, President of the Chamber of Commerce, expressed concern <br />about the City remaining competitive along with surrounding communities <br />and referred to a survey which indicates El Monte has the highest rate <br />in the area with a flat fee of $175, He felt the top figure of $750 <br />recommended in the Planning Commission resolution, was too high and <br />submitted the Chamber recommendation for $250 for anything 50,000 sq, ft" <br />and over, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />William Beckwith, realtor, agreed with the recommendations of the <br />Chamber and felt that it would not in any way take away from the Planning <br />Commission or the City Council the control they now have over conditional <br />use permits but it would allow applicants to apply who now cannot, <br /> <br />No one else desiring to be heard the hearing was CLOSED on MOTION by <br />Councilman Butterworth, seconded by Councilman Helms and carried unani- <br />mously, <br /> <br />Councilman Arth stated in part that he would favor the recommendation <br />of the Commission with some minor modifications; that every effort has <br />been made to accommodate applicants and still have them pay their own <br />way, He felt if the fee were too low staff would find itself in the <br />position of processing applications which never go through, That a fee <br />should be established so that good intent is shown on the part of the <br />developer to go ahead if the conditional use permit were granted. <br /> <br />Councilman Butterwo,th stated in part that he would be inclined to <br /> <br />7-18-72 <br /> <br />- 1 - <br />
