<br />1 "u ~~ <br /> <br />APPOINTMENT <br />TO PLANNING <br />COMMISSION <br /> <br />EXECUTI VE <br />RESEARCH <br />FIRM RETAINED <br />(City Hanager) <br /> <br />~' <br /> <br />~,~d <br />\vI '1'1-' <br />,l"-l <br /> <br />22:9302 <br /> <br />M I NUT E S <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA <br /> <br />ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />AUGUST 30, 1977 <br /> <br />The City Council met in an adjourned regular session on <br />August 30, 1977 at 5 p.m. in the Arcadia City Hall Council <br />Chamber. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Council Members Hargett, Parry, Saelid <br />Council Members Gilb, Lauber <br /> <br />On MOTION by Councilman Hargett, seconded by Councilman Parry and <br />carried unanimously Council Members Gilb and Lauber were excused. <br /> <br />On MOTION by Councilman Parry, seconded by Councilman Hargett and <br />on a unanimous vote of the City Council, Mrs. Carolyn Brink was <br />appointed to a four year term on the Planning Commission, This <br />term to expire in 1981. <br /> <br />Mayor Saelid advised that three members of the City Council had <br />interviewed at length representatives of executive research firms in <br />an endeavor to retain a firm to seek out a successor to the City <br />Manager, The firm would review all applications and would recommend <br />those candidates who meet the criteria which Council has set down. <br />It is to be on a nationwide basis and would include any in-house <br />personnel who may desire to apply. The City Council would then <br />interview the candidates. The recommendation for a firm and the <br />fee was submitted. <br /> <br />It wss MOVED by Council Member Hargett, seconded by Council Member <br />Parry and carried on roll call vote as follows that the firm of <br />Arthur D. Little be retained and a contract negotiated at $9,300 <br />plus expenses not to exceed 20%. The City Attorney will incorporate <br />certain provisions in the contract as requested by the City Council. <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Council Members Margett, Parry, Saelid <br />None <br />Council Members Gilb, Lauber <br /> <br />AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />li~P <br /> <br />DOWNTOWN <br />PARKING <br />CONSULTANT <br /> <br />f <br /> <br />'^ G 1--- <br />I J <br /> <br />Milton Inbody, 149 LeRoy Avenue, spoke to a recent incident wherein <br />a truck belonging to the Best Disposal Company had a malfunction of <br />its hydraulic mechsnism and the residue flowed on the street in <br />front of his driveway with the result that his driveway and lawn <br />were in such a state as to depreciate the value of his property. It <br />is also being tracked into his home onto the new carpeting. He felt <br />the Company is liable. Mrs, Inbody also spoke to this. The City <br />Hanager has knowledge of this and has been in touch with the company. <br />The City Attorney submitted ways to resolve the matter which the <br />City Manager said should be soon. <br /> <br />On MOTION by Councilman Parry, seconded by Councilman Hargett and <br />carried on roll call vote as follows the substitution of McCutchan <br />Consultants, Inc., in place of Wilsey & Ham, in connection with <br />the modification of existing parking lots along Wheeler Avenue <br />'between Santa Anita and First Avenue to increase the number of <br /> <br />8-30-77 <br /> <br />- 1 - <br />
