Russell Williams, Assistant Minister, Santa Anita Church <br /> <br />Jewell High, Secretary to the City Manager <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Council Members Gilb, Margett, Parry, Saelid, Lauber <br />None <br /> <br />On MOTION by Councilman Margett, seconded by Councilman Parry and <br />carried on roll call vote as follows the minutes of the regular meeting <br />of AprilS, 1977 were APPROVED. <br /> <br />Mayor Lauber presented to William R. Stewart, retiring Arcadia Postmaster, <br />a Plaque of Appreciation for his many years of service to the community. <br /> <br />Mayor Lauber presented to Edward Chastain, Building Superintendent, a <br />Mayor's Certificate of Commendation for his outstanding efforts and <br />accomplishments in photographing community events. <br /> <br />Mayor Lauber then presented a Plaque expressing her heartfelt appreci- <br />ation to her husband, Harry Lauber, for his patience, understanding, <br />devotion and encouragement during her years of public service. <br /> <br />Councilman Gilb placed in nomination the name of Jack Saelid to act as <br />Mayor during the ensuing year. Councilman Margett seconded the nomi- <br />nation which was carried unanimously. Councilman Gilb then MOVED that <br />the nominations be CLOSED. Motion seconded by Councilman Margett and <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Saelid assumed his of~ice and sa!~ in part that he considers it a <br />real honor and privilegele8~go~i~efi1ene opportunity of serving in this <br />capacity and that he has a responsibility in accepting the office by <br />doing his absolute best in terms of leadership and likewise he felt the <br />City Council has the responsibility of insisting on excellence which <br />he respects. He asked for Council's support during the coming year. He <br />then introduced members of his family. <br /> <br />Mayor Saelid then placed in nomination for Mayor Pro Tempore the name <br />of David E, Parry. This nomination was seconded by Councilman Gilb and <br />carried unanimously. Councilman Gilb then MOVED that the nominations <br />be CLOSED. Motion seconded by Councilwoman Lauber and carried unani- ' <br />mous ly. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tempore Parry assumed his office and expressed appreciation <br />for the opportunity of acting in this capacity and introduced members <br />of his family. <br /> <br />Mayor Saelid then presented Mrs. Lauber with a Plaque signed by members <br />of the City Council, the City Clerk and the City Manager in honor of <br />her devotion and service to the community during the past year. Mrs. <br />Lauber expressed appreciation for the honor and the support extended to <br />her during the year which in retrospect has brought about some real <br /> <br />4-19-77 <br /> <br />- 1 - <br />
