<br />I <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />DIAMOND <br />JUBILEE <br />EVENT <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE <br />SESSION <br /> <br />DIAMOND <br />JOB ILEE <br />EVENT <br /> <br />I M'~' <br /> <br />23:9600 <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF 1lIE CITY OF ARCADIA <br /> <br />ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />AUGUST 1, 1978 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Arcadia, California, met <br />adjourned regular session on Tuesday, August 1, 1978 at <br />the City Hall Conference Room. <br /> <br />in an <br />7 p.m. in <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Gilb, Pellegrino, Parry <br />Councilmen Margett, Saelid <br /> <br />Councilmen Margett and Saelid were excused on MOTION by Councilman <br />Gilb, seconded by Councilman Pellegrino and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />The Chairman of the Diamond Jubilee, James R. Helms, Jr., explained <br />in detail an event which the COllllllittee has approved un a "Symphony <br />under the Stars" by the San Gabriel Valley Symphony Association, <br />which would underwrite the costs of the orchestra and the exposure <br />of costs to the city would be limited to such items as printing, <br />tickets and programs. Most other expenditures would be taken out of <br />the proceeds from the sale of tickets. The net profits would be <br />divisible by three - one third each to the Diamond Jubilee, Arboretum <br />Foundation and the San Gabriel Valley Symphony Association. The <br />City's insurance coverage of the Diamond Jubilee would have to be <br />extended to COver this event. <br /> <br />Councilmen Gilb and Pellegrino were in favor of the activity as <br />described, however Mayor Parry would like some guarantee that costs <br />to the City would not exceed a definite amount. Inasmuch as time is <br />of the essence the Council advised Mr. Helms it would act on the <br />matter later this evening. <br /> <br />At 7:20 p.m. the City Council entered an executive session and <br />reconvened at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Further discussion held on the event described by Mr. Helms and with <br />the consent of Mayor Parry the City Council will approve the event <br />during the regular meeting with the understanding that the cost to <br />the City will not exceed $2000 and that the City's insurance be extended <br />to include the said event.
