Timothy Raw1e, Church of the Holy Angels <br /> <br />Police Officer, Teresa J. Akune, Culver City <br /> <br />On MOTION by Councilman Sae1id, seconded by Councilman Pellegrino and <br />carried unanimously the minutes of the adjourned and regular meetings <br />of December 1, 1981 were APPROVED. <br /> <br />PRESENTATIONS <br /> <br />On behalf of the City Council Mayor Gilb presented plaques to each of <br />the following in appreciation for their efforts and accomplishments <br />in a recent crackdown on drug dealers at the Arcadia High School. <br /> <br />Police Officer Teresa J. Akune (Culver City) <br />Police Chief Charles D. Mitchell <br />Police Captain Neal R. Johnson <br />Police Agent Burton M. Bernstein <br /> <br />During this presentation Chief Mitchell gave an oral resume/of what <br />led to the arrests and the procedure followed by all involved. Offi- <br />cer Akune expressed appreciation for the opportunity afforded her in <br />being able to participate in bringing about the arrests. <br /> <br />Councilman Haltom expressed appreciation to Councilman Dring, who <br />through Parent A1ert,l,became interested and took the initiative in <br />combating the drug problem in the City urging Council to take action. <br /> <br />Request of Robert Dominguez, 4937 Persimmon Avenue, Temple City, for <br />a variance from the building code to permit the use of a trailer as <br />an office for his business, R. D. Paving Company, for a period of ten <br />years at 11911 Clark Street. It was recommended that the variance be <br />granted for two years - at the end of which it could be reevaluated. <br />Conditions were also recommended if the request were to be granted. <br /> <br />Henry Hendler, 1372 Benedict Canyon, Beverly H811s, spoke in opposition <br />to granting the variance and said in part that he is Trustee for the <br />estate of the property owner directly to the east of the subject pro- <br />perty; that they are contemplating construction of about 200,000 sq. ft. <br />of industrial space ... and they feel it might destroy the integrity of <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br />12-15-81 <br />
