<br />1 <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />INVOCATION <br /> <br />PLEDGE <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />ZONE <br />VARIANCE <br />{Margolin} <br /> <br />1- -;J, .', 'J <br /> <br />4.27:1 <br /> <br />M I NUT E S <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />JUNE 4, 1958 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Arcadia, California, met in regular <br />session in the Council Chamber of the City Hall at 8:00 P.M., <br />June 4, 1958. <br /> <br />The invocation was offered by Councilman Reibold. <br /> <br />Mayor Phillips led in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />PRESENT : <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Balser, Jacobi, Reibold, Phillips <br />Councilman Camphouse <br /> <br />Mayor Phillips called for "Matters Pending": <br /> <br />Planning Commission Resolution No. 279 recommended approval of the <br />request of Vivian J. Margolin for zone variance to permit property <br />located at the northwest corner of Santa Anita Avenue and Las <br />Tunas Drive to be used for C-3 and PR-I purposes. This matter <br />appeared on agenda for May 6, 1958, at which time persons spoke in <br />protest and Council took same under advisement. <br /> <br />The Director of Public Works advised that the applicant, Vivian J. <br />Margolin, had submitted another plan and proceeded to elaborate <br />upon two exhibited diagrams, one for the ground level and one for <br />the second story shops and parking. <br /> <br />Discussion was held at length on the location of the ramp, which <br />the new diagrams revealed would be within the building. With <br />reference to the 10 feet bordering on the property of Mr. A. J. <br />Clark, 109 Sandra Avenue, Mr. Margolin stated he would be willing <br />to deed same to Mr. Clark, who stated he would accept the <br />responsibilities of the taxes and maintenance thereof. <br /> <br />Study was then given the possibility of a 6 foot wall being <br />constructed all the way around the Arcadia Congregational Church <br />property. Mr. Margolin stated he would be willing, upon the grant- <br />ing by Council of his permit, to begin the construction of said <br />wall concurrently with the development of the first unit of the <br />shopping area. <br /> <br />Councilman Reibold moved that the zone variance as requested by <br />Vivian J. Margolin be granted, in compliance with plot plan and <br />sketches submitted as of May 29, 1958, and subject to conditions as <br />contained in Planning Commission Resolution No. 279 with the final <br />plans to be approved also by the Planning Commission; that the ramp <br />be sound-proofed; that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare <br />the appropr1ate resolution and submit same to Council pr10r to the <br />next regular meet1ng. <br /> <br />Councilman Jacobi seconded the motion and it was carried on roll <br />call vote as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Balser, Jacobi, Reibold, Phillips <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Camp house <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />6-4-58 <br />
