<br />1 <br /> <br />INVOCATION <br /> <br />PLEDGE <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />(June 2, 1959) <br /> <br />BIDS <br />(Improvement of <br />Woodruff Avenue <br />and Woodruff PL.) <br /> <br />("'J' <br />1~ <br /> <br />HEARING <br />(Continued - <br />Mnoian) <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />1C3~ <br /> <br />:4652 <br /> <br />M I NUT E S <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />JUNE 16, 1959 <br /> <br />. <br />The City Council of the City of Arcadia, California, met in regular <br />session in the Council Chamber of the City Hall at 8:00 o'clock P.M., <br />June 16, 1959. <br /> <br />The Invocation was offered by the Rev. Lynde11 D. Cheeves, Pastor of <br />the Arcadia Church of Christ. <br /> <br />Mayor Reibo1d led in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Balser, Camphouse, Jacobi, Phillips, Reibo1d <br />None <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Jacobi, seconded by Councilman Phillips and <br />carried unanimously that the minutes of the Regular Meeting of <br />June 2, 1959, as submitted in writing, be approved. <br /> <br />Mayor Reibo1d announced that in accordance with the 1911 Act, bids <br />received for street improvements must be opened at a regular Council <br />session. Whereupon the City Clerk proceeded to open and read the <br />following bids: <br /> <br />Nick Artukovich <br />M. C. Nottingham Co. <br />Martin Kordick Co. <br />L. D. & M. Construction <br />Aristo Construction Co. <br /> <br />$6,153.00 <br />6,284.45 <br />5,827.50 <br />Co. 6,424.25 <br />5,440.00 <br /> <br />The City Clerk added that each of the above bids was accompanied by <br />the required bid bond in the amount of 10% of each respective bid. <br /> <br />Mayor Reibo1d then requested the City Engineer to retire and <br />analyze the above bids and to return later in the evening with his <br />recommendation. <br /> <br />The City Clerk advised that this matter had been taken under advise- <br />ment at the Council meeting of May 19, 1959 and the hearing continued <br />to the Council meeting of June 16, 1959. That thereafter, on June <br />11, 1959, she had received a communication from Henry W. Shatford, <br />attorney for the applicant (Paul Mnoian), requesting that the <br />application for a commercial hauling license be placed off-calendar <br />and the application withdrawn without prejudice to his making an <br />application at some future date. <br /> <br />Councilman Phillips moved that the hearing be closed; that the Council <br />approve the request of the applicant, and that the requested permit <br />to collect refuse from commercial establishments be denied without <br />prejudice to the making of a new application at some future date. <br />Councilman Jacobi seconded the motion and it was carried on roll call <br />vote as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Balser, Camphouse, Jacobi, Phillips, Reibold <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />6-16-59 <br />
