Co.) <br /> <br />1- y~r;; <br /> <br />HEARING <br />(Remmers) <br /> <br />,<1 .....".<;) <br />~L.:t(/O <br /> <br />M I NUT E S <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 'ARCADIA <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />DECEMBER 2, 1958 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Arcadia, California, met in regular <br />session in the Council Chamber of the City Hall at 8:00 o'clock P.M. <br />December 2, 1958, <br /> <br />The Invocation was offered by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Gerald M. O'Keefe, <br />Pastor of the Church of The Holy Angels. <br /> <br />Mayor Phillips led in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />PRESENT : <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Balser, Camphouse, Reibold, Phillips <br />Councilman Jacobi <br /> <br />Councilman Balser moved that the minutes of the regular meeting of <br />November 18, 1958 and the minutes of the regular adjourned meeting of <br />November 25, 1958 be approved as submitted in writing. Councilman <br />Camphouse seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Phillips announced that bids are now to be opened relative to the <br />improvement of Fourth Avenue; that under the 1911 Act bids received for <br />street improvements must be opened publicly at a regular Council meeting; <br />read and recorded at sa~d meeting; that they will then be given to <br />representatives from the Engineering Department for computation and <br />will be returned later in the meeting with their findings. <br /> <br />The City Clerk thereupon opened and read the following bid proposals: <br /> <br />Cameo Construction Co., Inc. <br />Mike Dabovich, an individual <br />Howard Sewer Company <br />M. Kordick Company <br />L. D. & M. Construction Co. <br />A. R. Milosevlch & Son <br />M. C. Nottingham Co. of So. Cal. <br /> <br />$5095.00 <br />3768.20 <br />4176.00 <br />3146.00 <br />3415.00 <br />3898.00 <br />4551. 20 <br /> <br />Mayor Phillips then inquired if any representatives of the bidding <br />firms were present, and if so, did the bids as read properly represent <br />their bids. Upon receiving an affirmative reply he requested Mr. Leslie <br />Talley of the Engineering Department to retire and proceed to compile <br />the bids, and to return l?ter in the evening with his calculations. <br /> <br />Mayor Phillips stated that at the regular Council meeting of November <br />18, 1958 the application of the Bard Distribution Company via <br />Secretary Oscar Robins, for a business permit to install four skill <br />game machines at the Santa Anita Bowling Alley at 176 Las Tunas Drive, <br />had been taken under advisement for a staff report to be submitted <br />covering the locations, number of machines in the City, etc. He also <br />mentioned that the Council had just been handed additional information <br />and data in support of the application from the law firm of S. R. <br />Levine, attorney for the applicant. <br /> <br />Mayor Phillips stated that the report had not as yet been prepared by <br />the staff and in the absence of the City Attorney, this matter would be <br />continued to the next regular Council meeting. <br /> <br />Application of Richard J, Remmers for a permit to operate a second- <br />hand store, used furniture and appliances only, at 175 West Live Oak <br />Avenue, Arcadia.
