December 28, 1960. <br /> <br />PRESENT : <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Balser, Phillips, Camphouse <br />Councilmen Reibold, Butterworth <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Balser, seconded by Councilman Phillips and carried <br />on roll call vote as follows that the Council accept the recommendation <br />of the City Manager and approve an agreement dated December 28, 1960 <br />between the City pf Arcadia and Arcadia Industries, Inc. covering the <br />sale by the City to said corporation of certain property abutting and <br />west of Peck Road and south of the Rio Hondo in the City of Arcadia, <br />more fully described in said agreement as presented by the City Manager, <br />for acceptable commercial and industrial uses, upon terms and conditions <br />as set forth, and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute said <br />agreement on behalf of the City: <br /> <br />AYES: Council~n Balser, Phillips, Camphouse <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmen Butterworth, Reibold <br /> <br />The City Manager reported on the matter of the Faubus Construction <br />Company's request for a building permit to construct a 44 unit apartment <br />house at 646 Fairview Avenue, which matter was discussed at the Council <br />meeting of December 20, 1960. He prefaced his report by remarking that <br />there seemed to be some impression of the residents of Arcadia Avenue <br />that the Council would consider the opening of Arcadia Avenue to <br />LaCadena Avenue at this meeting, and that this was not the case; that the <br />1913 Act proceedings had been terminated some time ago on the basis of <br />the cost to the property owners being excessive, but that since then the <br />City has acquired some of the more valuable pieces of property by grant <br />deed. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager then explained the adjustments made in the plans as <br />INDEXED submitted by the Faubus Construction Company and added that after <br />conferring with the representatives of said company that day that he <br />felt their problem had been resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned, <br />and that he Wished to express his appreciation for their cooperation. <br /> <br />After discussion by the Council of the various phases of the plans for <br />said building and the adjustments made, Councilman Phillips moved that <br />the Council approve the plans as outlined by the City Manager and <br />authorize him to proceed with the negotiations along those lines. <br /> <br />Mr. Wm. Gold, referring to his apartment building at 602 Fairview Avenue, <br />addressed the Council and stated in substance that he objected to the <br />inconsistency of the conditions as imposed upon the Faubus Construction <br />Company and those imposed upon him approximately two years ago when he <br />built in the same area, particularly the setback requirements; that due <br />to the setback requirements imposed upon hi~ approximately 55 feet of <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />l2-28-60 <br />
