W. Stanley Courtney, Minister <br />associated with the Arcadia Presbyterian Church. <br /> <br />Mayor Reibold led in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Balser, camphouse, Jacobi, Phillips, Reibold <br />None <br /> <br />The minutes of the regular Council meeting of April 5, 1960 were not <br />presented. <br /> <br />Continued hearing on application of Mrs. Charles Crowley, doing business <br />as crowley Brothers, 2508 North Angeles, South San Gabriel, California, <br />for a business permit to pick up rubbish from unfinished dwellings on the <br />request of the contractor, for staff report and recommendation as it had <br />been the consensus of the Council that said application was too general <br />in nature and did not coincide with the modus operendi of the business <br />as described by the applicant at the hearing on April 5, 1960. <br /> <br />Mayor Reibold inquired if anyone in the audience at this meeting desired <br />to speak, either in opposition to or in favor of the application. <br /> <br />No one desiring to speak, Councilman Camp house moved that the hearing <br />be closed, which motion was seconded by Councilman Balser and carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Councilman Balser commented that the report received from staff recom- <br />mended that the proposed business of the applicant be classified as <br />commercial rubbish hauling, and that in his opinion this type af <br />service was already well represented in the City. <br /> <br />Councilman Camphouse stated that inasmuch as it is the opinion of the <br />City Attorney that applicant's service can be classified as commercial <br />rubbish pickup that he moved that Council deny the application of Mrs. <br />Charles Crowley, doing business as Crowley Brothers, 2508 North Angeles, <br />South San Gabriel, California, for a business permit to pick up rubbish <br />from unfinished dwellings on the request of the contractor. Councilman <br />Balser seconded the motion and it was carried on roll call vote as <br />follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Balser, Camphouse, Jacobi, Phillips, Reibold <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Mayor Reibold announced that the hour of 8:00 P.M. having arrived, that <br />this is the time and place for the hearing of protests or objections <br />against the improvement of Woodruff Way in the City of Arcadia, as <br />described in Resolution of Intention No. 3236. <br /> <br />l. <br /> <br />4-19-60 <br />
