John Knox, Assistant Pastor of the <br />Chu~ch of the Good Shepherd. <br /> <br />Mayor Butterworth led in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT : <br /> <br />Councilmen Balser, Reibold, Turner, Butterworth <br />Councilman Phillips <br /> <br />MOTION by Councilman Reibold, seconded by Councilman Balser and <br />carried unanimously that the minutes of the Regular Meeting of April <br />17, 1962 and the Adjourned Regular Meeting of April 25, 1962 be <br />approved as submitted in writing. <br /> <br />Mayor Butterworth appointed Councilman Phillips as a member of the <br />Board of Directors, and Councilman Turner as Alternate member, of <br />the Independent Cities of Los Angeles County. <br /> <br />Mayor Butterworth, being ex officio a member of the Board of Directors <br />of the Los Angeles County Division of the League of California Cities, <br />appointed Councilman Balser as Alternate member to said League. <br /> <br />At the suggestion of Mayor Butterworth, Councilman Balser MOVED that <br />Councilmen Phillips and Turner, comprising an existing committee on <br />the disposal of the former Library site, also explore the matter of <br />the acquisition of the Cadwallader property (located north of Huntington <br />Drive, south of the abandoned Pacific Electric right of way, east of <br />3rd Avenue and west of the Wash) and the disposal of excess Pacific <br />Electric property (located at Huntington Drive and Santa Clara Street). <br />Councilman Reibold seconded the motion which was carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Planning Commission Resolution No. 444 recommending approval of the <br />application of Saeed E. and Gloria H. B. Murad for a zone variance to <br />permit the erection of a single family dwelling on the front portion <br />of their lot located at 931 South Eighth Avenue (a dwelling presently <br />existing on the rear portion). <br /> <br />An appeal from said decision of the Planning Commission having been <br />filed by adjacent property owners and said matter requiring a public <br />hearing, Councilman Balser MOVED that the hearing be scheduled for <br />May 15, 1962. Councilman Reibold seconded the motion which was <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Following is breakdown and recommendation, on four bids received <br />April 16, 1962 covering the City's specifications for an 80-foot <br />working height Aerial Platform and Ladder truck: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />5-1-62 <br />
