'/'.A (, <br />.-J -- , v <br /> <br />INDEXED <br /> <br />14:5648 <br /> <br />M I NUT E S <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />APRIL 3, 1962 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Arcadia met in regular session in the <br />Council Chamber of the City Hall at 8:00 P.M., April 3, 1962. <br /> <br />The Invocation was offered by Rev. Eugene E. Collins, Pastor of the <br />Arcadia Friends Church. <br /> <br />Mayor Balser led in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT : <br /> <br />Councilmen Camphouse, Reibo1d, Phillips, Balser <br />Councilman Butterworth <br /> <br />MOTION by Councilman Phillips, seconded by Councilman Camphouse and <br />carried unanimously that the minutes of the Regular Meeting of March <br />20, 1962 be approved as submitted in writing. <br /> <br />Planning Commission Resolution No. 441, recommending denial of the <br />application of John T. and Nadine O. Waterhouse for a zone variance <br />to allow a third dwelling on the lot at 734 and 738 West Longden Avenue <br />in Zone R-1. <br /> <br />The Planning Director, after submitting to the Council a plot plan of <br />the proposed construction, explained that the subject property is <br />developed with a residence and two car garage on the front portion <br />with another residence and garage and a separate driveway located mid- <br />way back on the lot; that the lot is zoned R-1 and has a frontage of <br />70 feet, a depth of 300 feet, and an area of 21,000 square feet; that <br />the area is part of Annexation No. 17-A and was originally developed <br />under County standards, and that although it is possible to place the <br />third house on the subject property, there are other large properties <br />in the immediate vicinity and elsewhere throughout the City that do <br />not enjoy the extra dwelling privilege. <br /> <br />Councilman Phillips then ~ that the recommendation of the Planning <br />Commission embodied in its Resolution No. 441 be approved and that the <br />petition of John T. and Nadine 0, Waterhouse for a zone variance for <br />the purposes and affecting the property therein described be denied. <br />Councilman Camphouse seconded the motion which was carried on roll call <br />vote as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Camphouse, Reibo1d, Phillips, Balser <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Butterworth <br /> <br />Whereupon the City Attorney presented, explained the content and read <br />the title of Resolution No. 3482, entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DENYING A REQUESTED VARIANCE <br />TO ALLOW A THIRD HOUSE ON THE LOT AT 734-738 WEST LONGDEN AVENUE IN <br />SAID CITY." <br /> <br />MOTION by Councilman Reibold, seconded by Councilman Camphouse and <br />carried on roll call vote as follows that the reading of the full body <br />of Resolution No. 3482 be waived: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />4-3-62 <br />
