<br />I ,"'''''.,,,, <br /> <br /> <br />PLEDGE OF <br />ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF <br />MINUTES <br />(2-6-62) <br /> <br />HEARING <br />(Zone Variance <br />Lutheran Church <br />Duarte Road) <br /> <br />,~ <br /> <br />... <br /> <br />.'- <br /> <br />INDEAED <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />?' <br /> <br />14: 5613 <br /> <br />M I NUT E S <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 20, 1962 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Arcadia met in regular session in the <br />Council Chamber of the City Hall at 8:00 P.M., February 20, 1962. <br /> <br />The Invocation was offered by Mr. Maurice Meredith, Pastor of the Arcadia <br />Church of Christ. <br /> <br />Mayor Balser led in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />PRESENT : <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Butterworth, Camphouse, Reibold, Phillips, Balser <br />None <br /> <br />MOTION by Councilman Phillips, seconded by Councilman Reibold and <br />carried unanimously that the minutes of the Regular Meeting of February <br />6, 1962 be approved as submitted in writing. <br /> <br />Mayor Balser declared the hearing open on the application of the American <br />Lutheran Church for a zone variance to permit the erection of a church <br />and related facilities at 110 and 118 West Duarte Road. (Planning <br />Co~ission Resolution No. 436 recommending approval). <br /> <br />The City Clerk read a communication from Mr. F. Duncan Eader, 111 West <br />Magna Vista Avenue, dated February 15, 1962, which stated in substance <br />that the granting of the requested zone variance be withheld pending the <br />presentation of a solution by the Engineering Department of the sewage <br />disposal and surface drainage problems not only of the subject property <br />but of the entire group of properties fronting on the south side of West <br />Duarte Road between El Monte and Santa Anita Avenue. (Communication on <br />file in office of the City Clerk). <br /> <br />The Planning Director displayed and explained an aerial photograph show- <br />ing the subject property as well as the property for which the applicant <br />had several months ago requested a zone variance for the purpose of erect- <br />ing a church, which request had been denied, the City subsequently <br />acquiring said property. <br /> <br />The Planning Director continued that in compliance with the request of <br />the Planning Commissi.on the staff prepared a study of the entire area <br />and recommended land use compatible with those proposed and those in <br />existance and likely to remain in existance for some time in the future, <br />such as public and semi-public use in the area between a proposed <br />auditorium and El Monte Avenue. That the subject church thereafter filed <br />an application for a zone variance for the subject location, which site <br />was approved by the Planning Commission subject to the following conditions: <br /> <br />(a) That 12 feet be dedicated for the widening of Duarte <br />Road. <br /> <br />(b) That all existing structures be removed from the site. <br /> <br />(c) That the driveways and parking lot be paved and a 6- <br />foot masonry wall separating the driveway and parking <br />area from adjacent residential property be constructed. <br /> <br />(d) That drainage from the parking area be provided to the <br />satisfaction of the Director of Public Works. <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />2-20-62 <br />
