Danneman, Pastor of the <br />American Lutheran Church. <br /> <br />\ <br />was <br />\ <br />) <br /> <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Balser, Butterworth, Reibold, Phillips and Turner. <br /> <br />The pledge of allegiance to the flag <br /> <br />leD by Mayor Phillips. <br /> <br />MOTION by Councilman Reibold, seconded by Councilman Balser and carried <br />that the Minutes of August 6, 1963 be approved as submitted in writing. <br />Councilman Turner abstained because of his absence at said meeting. <br /> <br />The minutes of the meeting of June 18, 1963, at which Councilmen Balser, <br />Reibold and Turner were present were approved on MOTION of Councilman <br />Turner, seconded by Councilman Reibold, and carried, with Councilman <br />Butterworth and Mayor Phillips abstaining due to their absence from <br />said meeting. <br /> <br />Communication was received and recorded from Robert R. Stevens, Attorney <br />for Mike T. Vallone, requesting continuance of the hearing scheduled for <br />this date on his appeal from the Planning Commission recommendation for <br />denial for a zone variance permitting construction of an eight story <br />apartment building on property located at 614-642 West Huntington Drive. <br />The applicant desired continuation until September 17, 1963. <br /> <br />Inasmuch as the public hearing was scheduled for this date, Mayor Phillips <br />inquired if anyone in the audience desired to address Council on the <br />matter. No one desiring so to do, Councilman Balser MOVED that the public <br />hearing be continued until September 17, 1963 at 8:00 P.M. Councilman <br />Turner seconded the motion which was carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Phillips declared the hearing open on Planning Commission Resolution <br />No. 488 recommending the amendment of the Municipal Code by prohibiting <br />the construction of more than one dwelling on lots in Zone R-l and called <br />for any communications pertinent to the matter. <br /> <br />A communication was read into the record by the City Clerk from Lillian <br />W. Brown, 431 W. Walnut Avenue, requesting consideration for owners of <br />property such as she owns. Said property being surrounded by multiple <br />development, and meeting the present requirements for such improvement. <br /> <br />Planning Director, Mr. Phelps, summarized steps leading to the recommenda- <br />tion of the Planning Commission, including statistics of areas which have <br />more than one house. Concentration of such improvement being primarily <br />in the southeast section of the City. Photographs were reviewed on the <br />visual screen and discussion was held on the various areas. <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />8-~63 <br />
