<br />I~,~ <br /> <br /> <br />PLEDGE OF <br />ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF <br />MINUTES <br />(7-2-63 & <br />7-16-63) <br /> <br />LIBRARY <br /> <br />(A:LB) <br /> <br />LOS ANGELES <br />GOLF COURSE <br />(Beer License) <br /> <br />(nsp) <br /> <br />I un san <br /> <br /> <br />(1150 Fallen <br />Leaf - Dudley) <br /> <br />(P:LS) <br /> <br />15:6065 <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />AUGUST 6, 1963 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Arcadia met in regular session in the <br />Council Chamber of the City Hall at 8:00 P,M" August 6, 1963, <br /> <br />The Invocation was offered by Rev, Bugene B, collins, Pastor of the <br />Arcadia Friends Church, <br /> <br />Mayor Phillips led in the pledge of allegiance to the flag, <br /> <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Balser, Butterworth, Reibo1d, Phillips <br />ABSENT: Counciiman Turner" <br /> <br />MOTION by Councilman Reibo1d, seconded by Councilman Butterworth and <br />carried unanimously that the Minutes of the Regular Meetings of July 2, <br />1963 and July 16,1963 be approved as submitted in writing, <br /> <br />Mayor Phillips, upon noting the capacity attendance at this meeting, <br />commented that it was probably due to the newspaper publicity given a <br />suggestion by Councilman Reibo1d regarding the City Charter as it <br />relates to the Library Board. That such matter is not officially <br />before the Council and when it does it will appear on agenda. That <br />Councilmanic action on the recent communication from the Library Board <br />had been deferred at the Council meeting of July 16, 1963 pending <br />attendance of a full Council, at which time it will be an agenda item. <br />That it would be appreciated if comments on these subjects are with- <br />held until they are officially before the Council, <br /> <br />Councilman Butterworth noted thet there has been an application filed <br />for permission to sell beer at the Los Angeles County Golf Course, <br />which is within the limits of the City of Arcadia; that it being the <br />policy of the City not to permit the sale of any intoxicating beverages <br />on any municipal property, he MOVED that the City Manager be directed <br />to write to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board stating that it is the <br />sense of this Council, representing the City, that the request for the <br />license be denied for the reason indicated and further that a similar <br />letter be sent to the Board of Supervisors indicating the opposition of <br />this City to this course of action on County property within the City <br />limits. Councilman Reibo1d seconded the motion which was carried <br />unanimously, <br /> <br />Appeal of George A. Dudley, 1150 Fallen Leaf Road, Arcadia, from <br />Planning Commission recommendation for denial of Lot Split No. L63-21, <br /> <br />The City Clerk advised that no communication other than the appeal <br />letter had been received. <br /> <br />An aerial view of the subject property was displayed on the visual <br />screen and it was noted that there is an existing garage and guest house <br />on lot 8 (parcel 2), <br /> <br />Mr, John W. Holmes, 595 E, Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, an attorney <br />representing the appellant, addressed the Council, stating IN PART <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />8-6-63 <br />
