<br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />M I NUT E S <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA <br /> <br />STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />JUNE 27, 1963 <br /> <br />The City Ceuncil of the City of Arcadia met in study session in the <br />Conference Roem of the City Hall at 7:30 P.M., June 27, 1963. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />PRESENT : <br />ABSENT : <br /> <br />Councilmen Balser, Reibo1d, Phillips <br />Councilmen Butterworth, Turner <br /> <br />ALSO IN ATTENDANCE: City Manager, City Attorney, Building Official, <br />Planning Director, and Kermit Fergusen, Joseph <br />Surra and Richard Weimer representing the <br />Technical Study Cemmittee. <br /> <br />Mayor Phillips commented that the reason fer this meeting was to review <br />the report submitted by the Technical Study Committee, which was formed <br />to. study regulations governing apartment building constructien, to <br />identify the adequacy or inadequacies ef the present regulations and to. <br />recommend changes which weuld aid in producing apartment buildings of <br />better quality. (said report dated May 31, 1963). <br /> <br />Extensive discussion ensued. The following regulations were explored: <br /> <br />Parking facilities <br />Driveway materials <br />Interier ef apartment buildings <br />Exterior of apartment buildings <br />Plans by licensed professienals <br /> <br />The recommendation on Fire Zones was omitted with the censensus that as <br />the need arises steps could be taken at such time. <br /> <br />It was the consensus that licensed professional skill be required for the <br />design of any structure ever eight units. <br /> <br />Discussion was also held on the continued need for the Technical Study <br />Committee with the censensus being that the Cemmittee was necessary <br />until criteria is established. <br /> <br />The matter of an Architectural Cemmittee was also explered. It was <br />pointed eut that the duties of such a committee would eventually be <br />spelled out once the criteria is set. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />The changes in the repert will be incorperated in an erdinance to be <br />prepared by the City Atterney and submitted to the Council and Committee <br />for further perusal at a time certain when all Council members are present. <br /> <br />Inasmuch as the State Legislature is in the precess of making recommendations <br />governing buildings the Council and Committee expressed interest and <br />will watch pregress with interest. <br /> <br />On behalf ef the City Council Mayor Phillips expressed appreciation to. <br />the Committee for its report and recommendations. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 10:40 P.M. <br /> <br /> <br />d~~ <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />6-27-63 <br />
