Walter F. Dannaman, American Lutheran Church of Arcadia <br /> <br />Mayor Conrad T. Reibold <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Balser, Considine, Forman, Reibold <br />Councilman Turner (arrived later in the meeting) <br /> <br />MOTION by Councilman Balser, seconded by Councilman Forman and <br />carried unanimously that the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of <br />August 17, 1965 and the Adjourned Regular Meeting of August 24, <br />1965 be approved as submitted in writing. <br /> <br />The City Council presented a citation to Mr. John D. Parkhurst for <br />his outstanding service with the Los Angeles County Sanitation <br />Commission and on his recent appointment to a Federal Advisory <br />Committee on national sanitation. Mr. Parkhurst accepted the award <br />and spoke briefly on the new board which has been created by <br />President Johnson to recommend to Congress on new water policies for <br />the control of water pollution throughout the country. <br /> <br />The City Council presented a plaque to Mrs. Herbert Opel for her <br />eight years of service on the City Library Board. Mrs. Opel accepted <br />the award and spoke briefly on the new library facility which became <br />a reality during her term of appointment. <br /> <br />Mayor Reibold declared the hearing open on Resolution of Intention <br />to vacate and abandon a portion of the first alley south of Duarte <br />Road westerly from Second Avenue and fixing a time and place for the <br />hearing of objections to same (Resolution No. 3812). The City Clerk <br />advised that she had on file the affidavit of posting and the <br />affidavit of publication of the notice of said vacation and that <br />there were no written protests. <br /> <br />No one desiring to be heard, the hearing was closed on MOTION by <br />Councilman Forman, seconded by Councilman Balser and carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Whereupon the City Attorney presented for the first time, explained <br />the content and read the title of Ordinance No. 1305, entitled: "AN <br />ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, <br />VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF THE FIRST ALLEY SOUTH OF DUARTE <br />ROAD WESTERLY FROM SECOND AVENUE IN SAID CITY." <br /> <br />MOTION by Councilman Forman, seconded by Councilman Balser and <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />9 - 7 - 65 <br />
