<br />16:6236 <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA <br /> <br />ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />APRIL 25, 1964 <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Pursuant to the order of adjournment of the regular meeting of the <br />City Council of April 21, 1964, the City Council of the City of <br />Arcadia met in adjourned regular session at. the City Library at <br />8:00 A.M., April 25, 1964, for the purpose of discussing the Library's <br />1964~65 preliminary b',dget. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Balser, Considine, Forman, Reibold, Turner <br />None <br /> <br />LIBRARY <br />BUDGET <br /> <br />The City Council met in joint session with the Library Board to <br />review the Library budget as submitted. The Budget reflects a total <br />appropriation request of $253,031.00. <br /> <br />A: Library <br /> <br />Brief discussion held on percentage of operating costs, allocations <br />to the purchase of books, salaries, maintenance. <br /> <br />Gene Gregg, President, summarized the lO year program entered upon in <br />1957; said program to keep pace with the needs of the community as <br />population increases. <br /> <br />Mr. Gregg stated in part in answer to query by Councilman Considine <br />that the Board endeavors to coordinate its reference book library <br />purchases with the needs of the schools. <br /> <br />Comparison was observed between the National average of salaries and <br />book appropriations to that of the City; National being 67 per cent <br />and l4 per cent vs City's of 66 per cent and 15 per cent respectively. <br /> <br />Reference was made to the communication to the Library Board from the <br />City Controller pertaining to the preliminary estimation of funds <br />available for the 1964-65 fiscal year ($260,l87.). <br /> <br />MOTION made by Councilman Balser, seconded by Councilman Reibold, and <br />unanimously carried that the preliminary budget as submitted be <br />accepted for future consideration at the time the budget for the <br />entire City is explored. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />President Gregg expressed appreciation on behalf of the Library Board <br />for the support of the City Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Turner expressed Council's appreciation for the completeness of <br />the budget as submitted; and that the budget reflects full cooperation <br />at staff level. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 9:10 A.M. <br /> <br />C)~ /~~~ <br /> <br />Mayor Turner <br /> <br />ATTEST: , ' IA/I. <br /> <br />eteM.h~kA Wl~' <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />4-25-64 <br />
