Walton Doering, Our Saviour Lutheran Church <br /> <br />Mayor C. Robert Arth <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Butterworth, Considine, Hage, Helms, Arth <br />None <br /> <br />Upon MOTION by Councilman Hage, seconded by Councilman Helms and <br />carried unanimously, the minutes of the regular meeting of January <br />20, 1970, were APPROVED. Councilman Butterworth abstained from voting <br />as he was absent. from said meeting. <br /> <br />On January 20, 1970, Council continued the public hearing on the <br />consideration of an order to repair, improve or demolish unsafe <br />buildings at 141 and 143 Bonita Avenue at that meeting. The purchaser <br />of 143 indicated he was endeavoring to contact the owner of the other <br />parcel but had been unable to do so up to that date. No one desiring <br />to speak to the matter, the hearing was CLOSED on MOTION by Councilman <br />Hage, seconded by Councilman Considine and carried unanimously. Receiving <br />information that the purchaser of 143 was progressing with the acquisition <br />of 141 and might be able to demolish both buildings simultaneously, it was <br />MOVED by Councilman Hage, seconded by Councilman Helms and carried on roll <br />call vote as follows, that Council issue the order for demolition to be <br />accomplished on or before March 15, 1970; that should the aforementioned <br />purchaser be unable to acquire the second parcel (141) and pursuant to the <br />provisions of the Arcadia Municipal Code, the City be and it is hereby <br />authorized to effect the removal. <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSTAIN: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Considine, Rage, Helms, Arth <br />None <br />Councilman Butterworth (as he was absent from the Jan. 20 meeting), <br />None <br /> <br />Recommendation of the Planning Commission to amend the text of the Arcadia <br />Municipal Code to permit ice skating rinks in Zone C-l or less restrictive <br />zone with the issuance of a conditional use permit. The Planning Director <br />advised that as a result of studies conducted it appears that the C-l zone <br /> <br />HEARING <br />(Zoning for <br />Ice Skating <br />Rinks) ,:vf'O <br />\ ~ P is reasonable and feasible for ice skating rinks, that the Commission <br />~ 1) t/ unanimously recommended the text amendment expressing the belief that this <br />\ 'l 'I type of recreation facility would be both an asset and a benefit to the <br />f\,-,,-\,I; iy-.J' city. He noted that hours and regulations would be controlled under the <br />-~ ~ / required conditional use permit. <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />Mayor Arth declared the hearing open and no one desiring to be heard the <br />hearing was CLOSED on MOTION by Councilman Butterworth, seconded by <br />Councilman Considine and carried unanimously. Councilman Considine MOVED <br />to APPROVE the recommendation and authorize the City Attorney to prepare <br />the appropriate ordinance to effect the amendment.
