Butterworth <br /> <br />Mayor C. Robert Arth <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Butterworth, Considine, Hage, Helms, Arth <br />None <br /> <br />Following the change of the word "innovatefl- to fTinundate"on Page 9 <br />first line of the minutes of the regular meeting of October 7, 1969, <br />the Minutes were APPROVED on MOTION by Councilman Hage, seconded by <br />Councilman Helms and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Councilman Helms explained that three members of the original Youth <br />Commission,who represented the three Junior High Schools, have'graduated, <br />and are now attending High School and therefore, are retiring from the <br />Commission. They are: Sydney Womack, Nancy ~indberg, and Ken Eggleston. <br />He commended them on their contribution and accomplishments. Mayor Arth <br />then presented each with a certificate of apP'reciation. The Chairman <br />and Secretary of the Commission were introduced. (Ron Curry and Nancy <br />Tankersley, respectively). <br /> <br />The City Manager explained that from time to time the Exceptional <br />Service Committee recognizes employees who hav~ performed outstanding <br />service; that three employees are now being so honored. Robert Colletti <br />(Water Department), Clement Demarest (Equipment Service'Department) and <br />Wesley Norris (Public Works Department). Mayor Arth, on behalf of the <br />City, presented e~ch with a certificate of co~~endation and expressed <br />pride and appreciation for their efforts beyond the requirements of their <br />individual positi~ns. ' <br /> <br />Planning Commission Res. No. 684 granting a corditional use permit for <br />the expansion anq remodeling of an existing restaurant at 143 East <br />Foothill Boulevard. It was noted that the establishment is in a C-2 <br />zone and surrounded by commercially developed property. The permit was <br />granted subject to specified conditions as set forth in the resolution. <br /> <br />It was MOVED by Councilman Hage, seconded by Cpuncilman Butterworth and <br />carried unanimously that the action of the Commission be and it is hereby <br />RATIFIED. (October 24 is the last date an appeal may be filed from the <br />decision). ' <br /> <br />The City Manager advised of the receipt of a recommendation from the <br />Civil Defense and Disaster Board concerning a model city ordinance <br />developed in conjunction with the League of California Cities which <br />creates a Civil Defense and Disaster Council instead of the present <br />Civil Defense and Disaster Board. The proposed Council would be com- <br />posed of city officials, chiefs of emergency services (department heads <br />in the main) to w~om the actual responSibility of emergency operations' <br />are assigned; also citizens representing var~ous organizations. It was <br />felt such a Council could be much stronger, m9Fe valuable in its <br />effectiveness. <br /> <br />10-21-69 <br /> <br />- 1 - <br />
