<br />CITY COUNCIL PROCE~DINGS ARE TAPE RECORDED AND ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />INVQCATION <br /> <br />18:7514 <br /> <br />M I NUT E S <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />OCTOBER 7, 1969 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Arcadia, California, met in regular <br />session in the Council Chamber of the Arcadia City Hall on October <br />1, 1969, at 8:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Rev. Robert K. Oliver, Arcadia Church of Christ <br /> <br />Mayor Arth expressed appreciation to Rev. Oliver for his community <br />effort relating to the youth, and in particular for his activity in <br />the Path Organization. <br /> <br />PLEDGE <br />OF ALLEGIANCE Mayor C. Robert Arth <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />MINUTE <br />APPROVAL <br /> <br />HEARING <br />a :f; If <br />//-'1..- (,v <br /> <br />MOTIOll <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Butterworth, Considine, Rage, Helms, Arth <br />None <br /> <br />Councilman Butterworth requested that the fourth line from the bottom <br />of page 2 of the Minutes of September 16 be AMENDED to read: ABSTAIN: <br />Councilman Butterworth (advised that he is involved in a matter in <br />another city with the applicant, Mr. Ingram, and, wished to abstain <br />from voting. ) With said correction he MOVED that the Minutes as thus <br />amended be APPROVED. Motion seconded by Councilman Hage and carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Application of John F. Lessard for a Council permit to conduct an antique <br />and collectors' show at 27 W. Huntington Drive on November 1 and 2. The <br />City Manager paraphrased the report of the Acting License Officer which <br />noted that attendance is estimated at approximately 200; that there will <br />be 30 to 35 spaces for exhibits and that 25% of the admission profit will <br />be donated to the Cerebral Palsy Fund. Mayor Arth declared the hearing <br />open and no one desiring to be heard the hearing was CLOSED on MOTION by <br />Councilman Butterworth, seconded by Councilman Considine and carried <br />unanimously. It was then MOVED by Councilman Considine, seconded by <br />Councilman Butterworth and carried unanimously that the application be <br />approved and that a business permit be issued for said purpose. <br /> <br />HEARING Appeal filed by Mrs. Harry Friedman from the <br />, ~. Committee and the Planning Commission in the <br />P / /'J-1...t./permission to install a second free standing <br />, Shopping Center, 120-150 E. Duarte Road. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />decision of the Modification <br />de~ial of an application fo~ <br />sign in the Alpha Beta <br /> <br />The Planning Director summarized his report dated October 7 and on file <br />in the Office of the City Clerk, wherein it was explained that the <br />Commission recognized the plight of the applicant and suggested that <br />perhaps the sign limitations should be removed from the 'n' overlay zone <br />and placed under the general sign regulations which would permit additional <br />sign area to be added to the existing free standing sign. However, to <br />actually remove the In' overlay would require Council approval. He <br />continued that the subject matter involves an illegal lot split which is <br />not before Council at this time. He noted that the Commission desired to <br />withhold consideration of the sign matter until the lot split had been <br />resolved. Projecturals were shown and defined. <br /> <br />Mayor Arth declared the hearing open and Mrs. Harry Friedman stated in <br />part that she was unaware of the illegal lot split until she appeared <br />before the Modification Committee on her application for a free standing <br /> <br />10-7-69 <br /> <br />- 1 - <br />
