Robert Arth <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSEN:r: <br /> <br />Councilmen Considine, Rage, Helms, Arth <br />Councilman Butterworth (Excused at June 25 meeting) <br /> <br />The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 17, 1969 were APPROVED <br />on MOTION by Councilman Considine, seconded by Councilman Helms and <br />carried unanimously. Mayor Arth abstained (he was attending mayor's <br />conference) . <br /> <br />Mayor Arth presented plaques to Councilmen Considine and Hage <br />expressing gratitude on the part of the City Council and the City <br />family for the accomplishments during the tenure of each as Mayor. <br />Mr. Considine had served in that capacity in 1967 and Mr. Hage in <br />1968. <br /> <br />Application of Edward Gillum for a business permit to operate the <br />Cinemaland Theatre, 135 Colorado Place. Mayor Arth declared the <br />hearing open and the applicant explained that he intends to operate <br />the theatre with films to attract family audiences at fair prices. <br />No one else desiring to be heard the hearing was CLOSED on MOTION <br />by Councilman Considine, seconded by Councilman Helms and carried <br />unanimously. Upon notification that the investigation has not <br />been completed, it was MOVED by Councilman Considine, seconded by <br />Councilman Helms and carried unanimously that the application be <br />approved subject to the results of the police report. The permit <br />to be issued on the same basis as previously - with an annual review. <br /> <br />This matter was held over from the June 17 meeting in order to allow <br />time to receive any objections to the abandonment of a riding and <br />hiking trail as requested by the County of Los Angeles .in connection <br />with the development of Tract No. 30713 (1332-1340 S. Eighth Avenue). <br />The trail would be relocated as part of the proposal. Upon notifica- <br />. ../. Ia tion of the City Manager that no opposition has been voiced, it was <br />l:Vv MOVED by Councilman Considine, seconded by Councilman Hage and <br />carried unanimously that the City.Council authorize the County of <br />Los Angeles to 1) abandon the riding and hiking trail within Tract <br />No. 30713 and 2) acquire real property as described in its communica- <br />tion of June 3, 1969. <br /> <br />EASEMENT <br />ABANDONED <br />(continued) <br /> <br />I.} <br />I '"~" <br /> <br />AGREEMENT <br />EXECUTION <br />AUTHORIZED <br /> <br />y}1 \ <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Council received an informative report on the final figures for the <br />1969-70 budget and the City Manager commented briefly on anticipated <br />revenue. <br /> <br />On MOTION by Councilman Considine, seconded by Councilman Helms and <br />carried unanimously, the Mayor and City Clerk were AUTHORIZED to <br />execute Utilities Agreement No. 7 Ut-4005 with the State of California, <br />Department of Public Works, Division of Highways for the relocation of <br />water distribution facilities to clear the construction area of the <br />Route 210 Freeway between Rosemead Boulevard and Santa Anita Avenue <br />(Marengo Avenue to 0.3 mile east of Michillinda Avenue) (1500' east <br />of Michillinda Avenue to 5th Avenue). <br /> <br />7-1-69 <br /> <br />- 1 - <br />
