Hage <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Arth, Butterworth, Considine, Helms, Hage <br />None <br /> <br />This being the first meeting of the City Council under the new City <br />Charter, expressions of gratitude were made to the members of the <br />Charter Revision Committee for their services in the redrafting of <br />the document. Councilman Butterworth made individual presentations <br />to the following persons: <br /> <br />Ira M. Price II (In Memoriam) Accepted by Mrs. Price <br />James E. Cross <br />Fred G. Kennedy <br />Lewis D. Lawrence (Accepted by Mrs. Lawrence, as Mr. Lawrence <br />is out of the country) <br /> <br />Mrs. Robert Rowell <br />John H. Saunders <br />Dale E. Turner <br />Harold K. Schone (absent) <br /> <br />Doug McAdams, Arcadia High School Student Body President, presented <br />in detail recommendations concerning the proposed Youth Commission. <br />Its main function would be to act as a sounding board for any and <br />all proposed activities or programs involving the youth of the <br />community. The Commission could also serve to initiate programs of <br />its own. It was noted that the Commission would be composed of ten <br />members (an adult representative from both the School Board and the <br />City Council, four representatives from the High School, three <br />representatives from the Junior High Schools, and the tenth spot <br />would be open to anyone between the ages of thirteen and twenty not <br />provided for in the above specifications). Mr. McAdams distributed <br />copies of the proposal which included an application format for the <br />youth. He stated that the year would Commence September 1 and end <br />August 31. However, it was suggested by Councilman Considine and <br />accepted by Mr. McAdams that it would he best to start June 1st. This <br />would provide time for organizational work prior to the beginning of <br />the school year. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City Council that it was in full accord <br />with the basic concept as presented, and Mr. McAdams will proceed <br />with implementation of the commission. <br /> <br />HEARtNG Application of Charles Adams for a business permit to conduct an <br />(Auction auction of equipment and stock at the Harold's Appliance Refinishing <br />Approved) Company, 20 North Fourth Avenue, on February 1, 1969, from 11 A.
